30x30 Tents
A 30x30 covers 900 square feet in a square. Same area as a 20x45 would be, but the proportion changes what you can do with it: a square room supports a centre dance floor with seating on all four sides, which no long tent does well.

That last row is the reason to buy a square. Put a 20x20 dance floor in the middle and you still have a continuous ring of seating with clear sightlines from every table — the layout weddings ask for and long tents cannot deliver.
Permit required, with a floor plan. 900 sq ft is well past the 400 sq ft threshold and 90 guests is past the occupancy trigger everywhere. Expect to submit a plan showing exits, provide NFPA 701 certificates, and specify your anchoring method. 10 to 30 days is normal. Permit guide by state.
Which series to choose
Frame tents are clear-span — nothing in the middle of 900 square feet, which is exactly what a centre dance floor needs. This is the size where the frame premium is easiest to justify.
Pole tents at 30x30 place centre poles in the middle of the room. For a catering or shelter application that is fine and the cost saving is real. For a reception with a dance floor it defeats the point of buying a square.
High peak and gable add height, which a 30-ft span needs more than a 20-ft one — a low eave over a wide floor feels heavy.
