On longer frame tent runs, a 9' cable is one of the more frequently ordered lengths β long enough to reach across a wider bay while still tensioning cleanly with carabiners on both ends. It's built to pull the peak tight and keep the tent top from sagging into a bay that's longer than it is wide.
Fits standard West Coast style frames from most major manufacturers.
Without cross-tensioning, longer bays tend to develop a dip right in the middle of the run, and that dip collects water on every rain event until it eventually stretches the fabric permanently. A 9' tension cable spans that gap and routes the load into the frame instead, keeping the peak height even from one end of the tent to the other.

Because this length spans a wider gap, tension it in small, alternating pulls from each end rather than cranking one side down fully first β that keeps the frame square as the cable takes up load. Recheck tension once the tent top is fully laced and settled.
